Good for forearm, neck, medium sizes
Thicker strokes than classic Naskh, giving higher contrast and a calmer overall shape. A good choice when the text should still read clearly from some distance.
Ruqʿa (Aref Ruqaa)
Only recommended for larger areas
Everyday handwriting: playful, flowing, with soft curves. Feels personal and relaxed — but the thinner strokes need more room to stay crisp as the tattoo heals.
Kufi (Reem Kufi)
Very good for small to medium areas
Geometric, angular, without curves — the oldest style of Arabic script. The clean shapes forgive blur especially well.
Bold Kufi (Reem Kufi Bold)
Best choice for very small areas
The heaviest option here: very thick, geometric strokes. On the smallest areas — a wrist or a finger — this keeps the most of the letterform intact.
Manuscript Naskh (Scheherazade)
For larger, calm areas with height
An ornamental style close to classical Qur'anic manuscripts, with pronounced ascenders and descenders. Needs more vertical space than the other styles.
Diwani-inspired (Aref Ruqaa Ink)
Larger areas only, because of the fine loops
A dense, heavily looped cursive in the spirit of the Ottoman Diwani tradition: letters merge into one another, the line reads as a single unbroken sweep. Honesty note: this font is a decorative approximation for preview purposes, not a calligraphically exact Diwani reproduction — that only comes from a trained calligrapher's hand.
Thuluth-inspired (Katibeh)
Needs noticeably more height than the other styles
A bold, tall-proportioned style with steep upstrokes, echoing the monumental Thuluth inscriptions seen on mosques. Honesty note: this too is a decorative approximation, not a substitute for hand-lettered classical Thuluth — for that, a calligrapher is the right choice.

Don't just show your artist a photo of the screen — show them the actual planned size too, ideally printed at real scale. Ask directly whether they have experience with Arabic script: letter connections that shift slightly during tattooing are easier to catch for someone who has done it before. And if possible, test a design as henna first — that shows you on your own skin whether the size and style really work.
